Project Description
At the heart of Lusail, Qatar’s new city center, Foster + Partners designed Lusail Plaza to be the focal point of the entire development a modern silhouette built almost entirely in UHPC, the newest generation of high-performance concrete technology.
We produced and installed a complete UHPC envelope for the podium buildings interior, exterior, and roof covering close to 140,000 sqm across nearly 12,000 panels in a smooth white finish, sized up to 1.5 x 4.5 metres. The scope spanned window panels, flat panels, soffit panels, and grating panels, making this the largest UHPC anyone has ever delivered to date.
A project of this scale, spread across a single city-defining site, made logistics the real challenge at peak, our team was installing close to 270 panels a day, completing the entire envelope in under a year, ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The result stands today as one of Lusail’s defining landmarks proof of what UHPC, and careful choreography, can do at city scale
